Does anyone know what breeds are used by the Queen in the carriage processions? Some of the horses are mounted and some are pulling the carriages. The tack and trappings are magnificent.  All of the Queen's horse guards seem to be sitting the trot (which looks animated).

Black horses are 3/4 Irish Draught, didn't say what other 1/4 was?  Trumpeters horses are Shires and always grey,
Drumhorse is large draught, mostly Clydesdales & Shires.

Gorgeous colorful pics, thank you!
Here she is taking her grandchildren riding. ADORABLE video. The littlest pony could fit in your pocket and doesn't want to go as fast as the others. I think I hit replay 10 times!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cGljxzbz0s

I'm sure that the Paint enthusiasts love that picture as we all do.
Loved the youtube with the grandchildren.....
This is alittle off the subject but I remember my mom liking to wear bandanas as she is shown in one of the pics wearing.   Come to think of it, she chose to dawn a scarf over the helmet...

It looks like she might be  riding on a bareback pad. At 86 she's not still riding, is she? If so, does  anyone know when she hung up her tack?

The pony she's on looks gaited . . . like an Icelandic.  I could be wrong.  Any gaited horse experts care to chime in?

She is still riding! A comment on facebook of that picture (on the greys) says "That is one of the Queen's Highland Ponies (not a Connemara). She also rides a Fell Pony. In any case, it is simply awesome that she rides any horse or pony at 86!!!!"

That is great encouragement for us Babyboomers who are still trying to ride (and look at Ian Millar).

When I was in Endland and went to the Royal Mews...I was told many of the Bay carriage horses were Cleveland Bays...large warmblood type all with the same rich Bay color...all so beautifully kept and trained....they so love thier horses over there
