Has anyone in the acreage had any incidents where they have found  marks or cuts on their horses that they feel were deliberately inflicted versus self inflicted?  At the very least very suspicious.......

An ACC officer looked at it and while we can't figure out how or where it could have occurred, he doesn't think it was done by a human intentionally.  I guess these sort of things can happen, I will forever question it but with horses nothing is impossible.

I noticed my quarterhorse had some strange vertical slices near the the big artery of the left side of his neck. Remember folks - things are going to get really crazy in terms of animals stealing.  Just be prepared.

Know the book...Kids Say the Darnedest Things by someone whose name is on the tip of my tongue...Art somebody.  Anyway..there should be a book called Horses do the Darnedest Things.  We all have to horse proof the barn, stall, pasture, etc., because of the curious horse.  That is a given and then there are other things out of our control.

Now here is just what took place some time last night (probably) or early this morning....I went to feed my very little "zoo" only to find my favorite rooster with one of his eyes completely out and hanging on the side of his face...oh my gosh...my stomach went queasy.  He was exhausted to where I could pick him up and put him safely in the tack room. The other rooster looks like his tail feathers were pulled out too.  I think this was probably a raccoon.  But, on the positive side, this little rooster never had a name...now he is officially named One Eye.
I don't really think this has much to with the idea of the original posting, but i thought I would throw that in because this is animal cruelty.  Sad

Classic I am so sorry about your rooster.  Many years ago my neighbors dog went into my hen house and killed my prize rooster who knew his name and loved me.  He would run across the who yard when I called him in the am.  The dog also killed my two lovely handraised ducks.  We go on but we never forget loss.  I am glad your guy will live through this.

So he is alive? I love chickens and roosters. They make great pets. A meter man kicked out one eye of my first dog because he was barking at him.  Poor little man.

Thanks....they are such cute pets.  The 4 ducks and 2 roosters see my car at the gate and come running squawking and so close to the car and get right under foot when walking to the barn.  They make me feel so "wanted and loved" Roll Eyes.  And they get fed before the horses!  This little one eyed rooster has short squatty legs with feathers on them.  He has a Napoleon complex,  rules the barnyard, and hangs out in my tackroom.  He also is a miracle as he has had the next door neighbor dogs (they have since moved) attack him twice removing all of his tail feathers twice.  Now imagine him short and squatty and without tail feathers...it did make me chuckle seeing that.  Yet one duck did get killed from those dogs plus 2 other roosters.  Anyway....not a tear dropped when those dogs moved.
