I'm sorry to comment about this but look at the picture in that article and tell me what you see in front of the right front tire??? I google imaged that exact same picture (searched Goodman crash pictures) and the photo is NOT the same as it is in the article. I am not going to tell you what I think I see, but my son is home this morning from high school and saw the exact same thing. VERY creepy, especially because the car is sitting on the bed of a tow truck. We think the "thing" was photoshopped into the picture!

Wow. Now the original picture from the first post is no longer part of the story. I wish it was there because I think they photo-shopped the police officer's face and body out and just left the arm!

Defense motions for excluding pictures, alcohol/drug evidence, tape of conversation after accident, etc.

Why not just let him walk now!?!?

Why couldn't he have worked this hard to get the kid help and out of the car.  Even if he still died,
such a different outcome.

Shame!

allieoop and izaboo - I couldn't agree with you more!  That's what makes this even more repulsive. Just goes to show how money talks.  It will be a dog fight however with Ellen Roberts representing the State vs. Roy Black and his top dollar defense team.

I'm very curious as to why they keep saying they want the venue changed to Miami-Dade.  Why not Polk County or Okeechobee County?  My bet is their expert jury an.alyst said they'd have a better chance of winning down in Miami-Dade from the jury pool they would have to pick from and that all their blabber about "pre-trial publicity" is just a smoke screen to hide what they really want.

Ive been watching the trial...it seems odd to me he hasnt just pled guilty and tried to get a reduced sentance...maybe the money they hope to get  is the  reason there has been no plea deal...maybe he is just buying time...

The defense seems stupid but I guess they have to try to put some doubt about his blood alcohol level and car issues into the trial...I assume our tax dollars are paying for all of this...thanks Mr G...maybe before you head off to your long vacation you could pay back the county for all there good work.

Mr Black has some major karma issues to deal with too....so sad.

So his Bentley "malfunctioned" and he got drunk after the accident to dull the pain.  Right, I believe that story . . .  Roll Eyes

Let's all pray the jury has at least 1/2 a brain and can see this BS for what it is - a lame attempt at making excuses to pass the blame and avoid the fact that he irresponsibly killed an innocent young man.

I believe the jury is 5 men and 1 woman...well I think most men realize if you spend over 7 hours in bars the same night your blood alchohol is.170 you did more than drink 3 drinks.   The only reason to leave the accident site was to walk off the drunk...can we all imagine what reading was at the time of the crash.  Hopefully after the fiasco at the Casey Anthony trial these jurors with think about the actual facts and not listen to all the nonsense.   He needs at least 5 years to detox and get over all his back aches...maybe toss in another 5 for putting on the stupid defense...then never allowed to drive and 20 years probabtion.

Because of all the felony charges he's looking at 30 years in prison.  Not to mention an eternity in hell afterwards.  Wink

I want to know where he got all the booze, and hydrocodone, after the accident.  Was it hiding there under a bush just waiting for him??  Is there an all night pub or package goods store on that corner that is invisible to the rest of us??  Maybe he crawled back into that mangled wreck of a "malfunctioning" Bentley to get to his private bar hidden in the back seat or the trunk??  Roll Eyes

Theres a saying that goes "friends don't let friends drive drunk".  Wheres all the 'friends' he was probably drinking with who knew he should not get behind  the wheel?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh
Why didn't someone drive him and his bentley home!  Sad  Well?  Maybe a life could have been saved if someone stepped up to the plate when and where it was obviously needed.

And I have an opinion of my own with regard to Oxycodone and all the rest.  The least little thing and the drs throw that junk at you.  Its like some of them are pushers.  Do they get some sort of kick backs for writing the script!  I know everyone has different pain level tolerances, but dentists too will throw that junk at you for the least little pain.  Drugs have side effects not the least of which is addiction.  Give that junk to someone who drinks yet and there you go........ Tylenol is plenty bad enough for you, much less the big drugs.

Its just so sad to consider all of the other possibilities instead of driving drunk.  Couldn't one of his friends have called his family for help? For that matter you'd think he'd have a chauffeur.

Oh well.

Frank Cerabino cracks me up, but his columns are right on the money.  Wink

Love how he sums the defense story all up:

"So all this trauma, all this grief, was caused by a sober man betrayed by his defective luxury automobile during his simple childlike quest for a Wendy's Frosty."

I hope the jury hangs him high.

The prosecution's rebuttal expert witness today was a great witness.  He relayed the information clearly and in terms the jury could understand.  He also conducted tests on the same model/type while also having a control to compare the test results to.  The defense's expert's theory of a 2nd impact was silly and it reflected poorly on him that he did not research the specs of the car in question.

Safety standards are long overdue at that intersection.  It is a hazard going from 2 lanes to 1 west bound and people don't realize til the last minute that the right lane becomes a turn-only lane.

Yes Virginia, there is Justice in America!

Unfortunately the defense will most certainly file an appeal, and they will ask that he be released on bond pending the appeal.  I hope that request will be denied so he can start getting to know his new cell mate "girlfriend" up close and personal just as soon as possible. (Wonder if he'll adopt "her" too? Grin )

On the other hand, even though justice prevailed at this step of the legal process, at the end of the day Scott Wilson's family is still without their son.  Cry  I hope they can find some closure and peace from the jury's verdict.

Thank the Lord (and the State Prosecutor) for that verdict. (prayers answered) May Mrs. Wilson sleep well tonight, find some peace and take a step towards healing. Scott, RIP and know that we all hold you in our hearts. Never forget............ Cry

Booze is available on every corner as someone mentioned.  Yet somehow its considered 'uncool' to not drink any alcohol.  Yet its cool if you are an alcoholic then to abstain, then its ok.  Some families actually let their kids drink at home.  I was blessed to grow up in a "dry" home, but I remember a friend who thought it wasn't a party w/o alcohol.  (I never understood where she was coming from).  Of course then theres so called medical reports that having a drink a day is good for you, but they fail to mention how many ounces is sufficient and if one is good just think how much better 2 will be!  Beer is almost always a better deal at the store than soda, how does that work?.  Have you ever noticed how on TV someone always seems to be drinking something other than lemonade? Especially sitcoms and soap operas? If kids see their family members routinely intoxicated and then take in TV messages they think its normal.  I sat at a horse show there at WEF and couldn't believe how many beers some young girls were drinking. One is more than enough for me to chill, why do they act like its pop? Do their parents ever smell their breath! Teach your kids that its alright NOT to drink.  Better yet be their best example and don't make jokes about it.
I would personally save any references about 'girlfriends in jail' for those who truly deserve it like child molesters and rapists who are brought to justice.
How many beers does it take for anybody to be too buzzed to drive?
They should just have breathalyzers at the exits of the bars and to get out you must pass muster!!
How many 'social' drinkers can make themselves go 30 days w/o a single drop?
