try the zink oxide cream from the drug store... works really well on the nose of my mini...

There are also fly masks with extensions all the way to the nose.. and some masks with high UV protective rating.

A fly sheet should help, especially on his rump.   I don't mean the hot plastic type fibers, just a regular white fabric kind. They help to deflect the sun a little bit.  Might find one in a consignment shop.

If possible, keep him out at night.  If not, the baby(extra protection) sunscreen is what I use to put on my white Arabian mare with the beautiful pink nose.  I also have a face mask that covers her entire face...from ears to nose.  The sun will hopefully not be too strong these coming fall days....but we are in FL.  I use to use a white flysheet also.....very light in weight.

Kensington Fly Sheets.. the only way to go.. cost a bit more, but much better quality and better fabric than anything that's out there... and, if you get a rip in it, the rip won't travel.

Check your fly-sprays... most of them have a sun screen in them.

We've used the baby sunscreen (the dry spray works great if your horse will let you spray it) on the white legs after clipping and on the noses...worked good and no staining.

Quic Shade

(Exhibitor Labs)  Serious sun protection for horses, equal to a human SPF15. Quic Shade won't melt or run - it stays right where you put it. Contains soothing vitamin E to virtually eliminate sensitivity. Can also be used as a show accent for super-shiny results.

And for their coats Quic Screen both are made by exhibitor labs
