Im having trouble keeping weight on my 11 y/o Hanoverian. In the morning he gets 6 quarts of Triple Crown Complete and another 6 quarts at night. Also at night time he gets about 7.5 quarts of beet pulp. Plenty of rich O & A through out the day. He is on a consistent worming schedule and will be starting daily wormer soon. I also have him on a weight supplement that seems to be working. I know this because it says improves quality of the horse's cost & his coat looks awesome. I had his teeth floated to make sure and that was not a problem.  I just hate the fact that you can count his ribs. I have only had him since March so he is relatively new to me. Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

Have you been getting your feeding regiment from Grand Prix talking to Holly?  You sound like he have him on a good diet except You might want to put him on Triple Crown Senior.  What is the weight supplement?  I use Ultrabloom.  It sounds like you might be using that.  How thin was he when you got him?  Has he gained weight with you?  In any case, Holly at grand Prix can do wonders with feeding problems.

I buy my feed in Jupiter. But when I got him he looked really good but I always fed triple crown and he was on purina. I've always done really good with triple crown so I was supurised he dropped weight. I was thinking about the senior but the complete has a higher fat percentage. And if I'm not mistaken I believe it is ultraboom or ultra something.

For clarity, call Holly at Grand Prix.

Most definitely call Holly at Grand Prix.  Most likely you're referring to Ultra Bloom by Seminole Feed.  I have a 21 year old gelding who is allergic to almost everything & Holly helped me formulate a nutrition plan for him and he's thriving. Ultra Bloom is a staple in his diet.

Yes, Ultra Bloom is wonderful plus what was recommended from Holly were alfalfa cubes.  I know you said he gets O&A but maybe the additional alfalfa cubes might just be the needed extra calories.  Triple Crown Complete may be higher in fat, but maybe not in calories.  Ask Holly why Triple Crown Senior is highly recommended for weight gain.

Yes, if you see her first posting, she wormed and floated his teeth.  I think if he had ulcers, he wouldn't be eating like he does.  Apparently, he is getting the groceries.

Yes he has had his teeth done and he is on a worming schedule. I don't believe it's ulcers because he has no signs of it. There is no hesitation to engulf his food either lol
