On Monday, August 30th at 9:30 a.m. the Palm Beach County Commissioners will be making the FINAL VOTE on the following two land use changes that will affect residents of Loxahatchee in regard to traffic, noise, lighting, safety, crime and diminished property values.
Sluggett Property (The red barn property at Seminole Pratt & Southern) received a land use change on December 3, 2008 to commercial that permits the property to have 161,500 sq ft of commercial development. The property owner now is requesting 280,875 sq ft of commercial development along with the removal of conditions that would limit the largest tenant to 65,000 sq ft (think Super Walmart). Fight now to stop this or fight the big-box corporation later!
Lion Country Safari - Lion Country Safari is requsting a residential land use change from RR-10 (1 home per 10 acres) to RR 2.5 (1 per 2.5 acres) on its property. The change will permit Lion Country Safari to build 254 units (if the park closes) or 125 units (if the park remains open). Development will be on the two vacant parcels just north of Fox Trail development. With all the vacant properties due to foreclosure, do we really need more homes?
Please attend the County Commission meeting on Monday, August 30th at 9:30 a.m. to fill out a card in opposition and/or to speak against these land use changes, and call and email your county commissions (listed below) to share your concerns and tell them to vote NO on both of these changes.
