Thanks Jeny - looking for more bio info, background, disciplines judged, etc. than just names.  This site is rather difficult to maneuver.

Do you have recommendations for Dressage judge with Western Dressage experience?  Can't be Western Dressage only - still only a
few of them but growing.  Thanks

13  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / PBCMP JUMPER & HUNTER SHOW WILL BE UNDER COVERED ARENA on: May 03, 2013, 10:03:57 AM
We will have the Jumper Show Saturday, May 4 and Hunter Show Sunday, May 5 under the covered arena.

I'm sorry we can't do the same for Dressage and Pleasure but we're hoping Saturday rain holds off until afternoon
and Sunday looks a lot better.

For those Dressage riders working off trailers, if we have some rain you're welcome to stage in the B Barn in the cross-section
of the aisle way.  Please remember we have other shows moving in and this is the best place to avoid trunks, feed, etc. in
the aisles.

Thanks everyone - do a sun dance!!

We had such a great show this weekend, filled with 43 riders!!  Most of you expressed you'd like a May
and maybe a June show as well so 'your wish is our command'!!

I need your entries asap for planning purposes only.  We can change or alter when closer to show day
but I need to know we do have enough riders for at least a morning session before I sign up a judge.
A.M times will fill first unless entries look large enough to pick afternoon ride times.  If we start this
now, I'll have more time to help with your schedules.  Please mail or email your information and I'll
start working on the show.

Thanks for all your support - it's great to see the show growing again.  Thank you, too, to our new
Western Dressage riders, we're so happy to see you and glad you had a good time.

23  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / CENTURY CLUB DRESSAGE RIDER AT PBCMP SHOW SATURDAY, APRIL 6 on: April 05, 2013, 04:58:19 PM
The Century Club was established at the Dressage Foundation in 1996, at the suggestion of Dr. Max Gahwyler,  noted dressage judge and clinician.
The purpose of the Century Club is to honor senior dressage riders and horses that are still actively riding and competing.  In order to become a
member of the Century Club, the ages of the rider and horse must total 100 years or more!  So far, the horse isn't admiting his age!  lol  The team
must also ride any level dressage test at a show, and be scored by a judge.

Palm Beach County Mounted Posse is very pleased and honored that Sy Budofsky will be riding to become a member of this very special club.
Sy will be riding Romeo's Krystal Bay from Desert Rose Ranch to become Century Club Team #127!!

After his ride, we hope you'll take a moment to congratulate this very special team on their accomplishment.  Way to go Sy!!

Sy will be riding at Jim Brandon Equestrian Center at the PBCMP Dressage Schooling Show under the Covered Arena with a 1:30 pm ride time.
We hope anyone that's in the area or would just like to come out and cheer Sy on will do so!!  It's going to be a beautiful day!

See you at the Show!

It's not a rumor and we're proud to have our Century Club rider from Desert Rose Ranch.  I was planning to post as soon as ride time
is set - it will be mid-afternoon but confirming with group.  I believe Sy is in his 80's and definitely an inspiration.  We don't normally
have many spectators but anyone who can be at Jim Brandon on Saturday afternoon, it would be great to have a warm welcome and
congratulations to this gentleman!!

For those of you like myself unfamiliar with this club - horse & riders age exceeds 100

They do horse blankets too!!  Don't need quarters either - they have a neat refillable card.

It's the opposite for me per drive but I preferred driving there from Loxahatchee than being jammed into RPB site.
I'd throw in a few loads, go over to the park to do some work or watch Dressage and come back.  highly recommend.

Went by yesterday and looks like new machines arriving.  Used to use a lot but dirty, old machines, wiring sticking out and jammed aisles bummed me out.
LOVE laundromat on Jog, just south off Forest Hill on left hand side.  HUGE, clean, bigger load capacity machines, Wi-Fi, vibrating lounge chair.  Really
helped me out when washing machine died.  Open 24/7 too.  The Tequila Cancun's margaritas helped, too, but they went out of business!   Embarrassed

Had an old Trail et so not sure if it still applies but body was built so it 'split' in half if supports under trailer weakened.  We had ours reinforced with steel pieces
welded due to age and rusting.  Also reinforced flooring.

Next trailer is our current ride - Shadow 3 horse slant with oversized dressing room and trailer portion for warmbloods.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!  Very easy maintenance,
light, easy to tow, have only replaced a brake light since ownership in 2004!!  Lots of Shadows at Posse too

I can't speak to milk thistle in animals but highly praise it for humans.

6 years ago my husband was diagnosed with cirrohsis of the liver and placed on the liver transplant list at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Milk thistle and cranberry juice were recommended for the detoxification of his liver.  A year ago my husband was taken off the transplant
list because his liver had healed itself enough to no longer need a new liver!!  Our dr's couldn't tell us why it works but they found that it
has!!

We're sorry to report that the concensus of riders and our Board is to err on the side of caution and cancel this weekend's shows.
We're aware of the quarantine called off at WEF and that's great news but we still have other cases in Loxahatchee and riders and
big barns are still very nervous.  We've had half the shows biggest barns cancel and many dressage riders as well.

This show will be made-up at a date to be announced.  If you have friends who ride Posse but may not look at this site or Posse's,
please help us spread the word.  Hate to have someone hook up the trailer and come to an empty park!!  We'll post info at local
stores, ie.Red Barn, Tackeria, etc. and have on our web site as well, www.pbcposse.com.

Stay healthy & safe.  Hope all this goes away soon and we can 'See you at the Show!' next month.

Thanks for everyone's input here and by phone & email!!  You guys are the best!!

38  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / Re: Developments on EHV-1 at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on: February 28, 2013, 03:33:43 PM
Re vaccinations:  After paying a heavy vet bill for 4 horses immunizations, coggins, etc. I asked the vet how the big barns can afford this?
His answer - they DON'T!!  I know he can't speak for everyone but he said more local mom & pop horse owners vaccinate and worry about
illness than the big farms.  They 'can' afford it but choose not to spend that kind of money for something that may or may not happen.

I get it, to a degree.  I'm barely holding on to my horses so I've cut out rabies and some other shots to keep cost lower and get the shots
for the very serious viruses (not that rabies isn't).  Then there's the coggins - something you can be negative for on Monday and positive
on Sunday but you have a whole year of exemption?  We in Florida are lucky that we guard our borders well and require the Health Certificates
but not protected from those who travel amongst us in Florida.
39  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / PBCMP SHOW/JIM BRANDON EQUESTRIAN CENTER/EHV-1 UPDATE on: February 28, 2013, 11:47:27 AM
Posse has been monitoring this situation since the 1st reported outbreak, as is  Jim Brandon Equestrian Center.

Initially not concerned with 1st case testing negative but now know 1 test negative/1positive but good news so far - no symptoms.
Then heard other 2 cases at WEF that were shipped with same horse - still didn't seem concern for our shows.  Posse doesn't have
'haul ins' from Ocala, most our ridership is known to us, we don't have Grand Prix riders show with us.

Then we had rider concerns re USHJA clinic this past Monday at JBEC and haul-ins from all over FL and surrounding States.  Turned
out there were no horses from Ocala at this clinic but Jim Brandon and Posse agreed that cleaning all stalls in both barns and disinfecting
would be a good idea to appease any fears and to err on the side of caution.

Now there's more!!  Posse & Jim Brandon are monitoring these newest developments closely.  We have contacted all of our big barns
for their input to show or not show.  Jim Brandon is deciding on biosecurity measures and whether to enforce the 48hr. Health Certificate
requirement.

If JBEC initiates Health Certificate requirements for shows, Posse H/J, Pleasure & Dressage riders wouldn't have time to obtain such
certificates and the shows will be canceled.  If not required, Posse is still weighing what's best for our riders and will have information
here and on our web site, www.pbcposse.com and posse fb page re our decision.  We will have a statement one way or the other by
this evening.

Your safety, the safety of your animals and your livlihoods as riding centers is always important to us!

Thank you,

Alyce Michelbrink, President

Health Certificates NOT needed for Posse shows.  With case in Wellington negative, USJHA horses at JBEC
following biosecurity protocols by asking for Health Certificates and NO Ocala horses at this clinic, we're confident
we have nothing to worry about for our shows this weekend.  JBEC is following up with cleaning & sanitizing all
stalls in both barns to ease any concerns re horses from previous shows.

As many of you have heard, a case of EHV-1 has been reported in Ocala. There was also concern a horse at WEF, shipped from Ocala, had the same symptoms but has now tested negative for EHV-1. There is a large US H/J Association clinic at Jim Brandon Equestrian Center tomorrow, Monday 2/25 with NO entries from Ocala. The group has, however, taken bioprotocols by asking for Health Certificate, EHV vaccination, the same protocols WEF is no requiring. Jim Brandon, just to take all precautions for our safety, will completely disinfect both barns after the USHJA event before our H/J, Dressage & Pleasure shows next weekend 3/2-3. Hope this gives our members peace of mind!!

I'm confused.  Why were beautiful freestyle dressage riders riding in the rain and spectators sitting in the wet, cold rain instead of being
under the covered arena of the Dressage Village?  The covered arena is obviously set up for the Grand Prix 'jumping' but aren't they down
the street?  Even given that, I've seen a Dressage ring go to a Jumper ring in a few hours, couldn't they share the space between tonight

All fees and more information, if needed, are on the site, www.pbcposse.

Hope to see you in March!!

Posting early to get on calendar and get entries in earlier.  Very hard to try and accomodate everyone's ride times then
have riders not show or ask for last minute changes.

You can email entries to get things started but must send hard copy and entry fees before ride time will be registered
for the show.  Posse has always returned your entry fees, in full, when you had to cancel.  But there have been so many
last minute cancellations we're changing that policy to ensure payment to judge and facility and not take a loss.  Stall
and shaving fees will be returned.  Thanks for understanding.

Very astute, Norma.  Didn't even think of that!!  lol  It was actually a travel quarentine and since he was staying until next show, they paid to leave him there
with us.

We have met with County, though, and they will be a shelter if there's every another freak storm like Isaac.  They will not house during the storm but will
take a first come, first serve basis afterwards for similar flooding and problems with stalling horses.   They didn't think Delray was that bad of a drive for
those of us in Loxahatchee, Acreage & Wellington - maybe 15 minutes or so.  They must really 'fly' when driving!  haha  Take me 15 minutes just to get
to civilization and paved roads!!!!!!

She's fine - lots of bumps & bruises and she'll be sore for awhile.  Not sure why they trauma hawked unless it looked a lot worse than it was.  She raises and shows Mustangs -
tough girl!!
55  General Horse Information / Horse Information / Re: South Florida Fair & Horse Tent on: February 01, 2013, 03:39:52 PM
It's that old adage 'be careful what you wish for'.  There was someone who ran the horse tent for years and it really RAN but not the
easiest person to deal with.  These new guys are friendly, affable and try hard but woefully lacking in knowing what to do, communicating
with groups (got our last message about a meeting the night of the meeting and given the wrong hours, it was actually over when a rep
could get there), and somewhat have their hands tied with new restrictions re stall rental, volunteer hours, parking, etc.

I nominate Peg Kovacs to take over, not as a Posse member but as a person who loves horses, her community and knows how to run horse
shows and DID for years at the Fair.

The Fair should take big blame for not seeing what's going on and correct it.  We as a County better start realizing how positively the
horse industry effects us, non-equestrians as well, and start to support it more.  The Wellington mess is a prime example.

Someone ask Detroit how well they did when the steel mills left and car mfg. died.  An extreme example to compare to equine industry,
but not too far off.
56  General Horse Information / Horse Information / Re: South Florida Fair & Horse Tent on: February 01, 2013, 10:38:56 AM
HEY NOW, my rabbits were housed in the lap of luxury.  I used my kids old Little Tykes house, extended a runway from the door for a screened in
run.  lol

I agree people like the amentities but those tents have been filled for years because someone who knew what they were doing bothered to meet with
area riding clubs, organize shows, get information out and provided prizes/ribbons/buckles just like any other show.  They're also very concerned with
the number of passes given out for Fair use and that I agree with.  There was major misuse of free tickets for a group of 20 and only 2 volunteered to
do anything.  The times they are a changing....  sad
57  General Horse Information / Horse Information / Re: South Florida Fair & Horse Tent on: February 01, 2013, 09:14:38 AM
It's really pitiful, Norma, and very sad!!  I used to get a whole weeks worth of tickets just to see events at the horse tent.  They had Pleasure
Shows, barrel races every weekend, display of breeds, drill teams, Mustang club, Appaloosa club, Paso Fino club, demonstrations of reining,
roping, dressage, jumping, etc.. I go now very infrequently to see some friends and watch people enter the tent, see nothing there and leave.
The rabbits get more viewing!!! (nothing against rabbits).

The trailer parking is hideous.  The area behind the staging area for horses is I-95 of golf carts going back and forth to various fair stocking points and
very dangerous.  Horses are not mentioned in the Premium Book for any contests, awards, etc as are other livestock.  The beautiful booths are gone
with displays about horses, their disciplines, information for non-riders, etc. The new 'ethics' test for 18 & unders doesn't help either.  If you just ride
and aren't a regular Fair participant you know nothing of this test and then aren't allowed to enter any events at the Fair, if there were any.  I think
the kids with 4H and their animals and most 18 & U's are very ethical and know how to treat their animals.  I think adults should take the test!!

The Fair highlights the cattle industry, and should, and most everything is being squeezed out for more food and rides.  Very, very sad!!

The wonderful Equestrian Aid Foundation is having another great fund raiser at Jim Brandon Equestrian Center this Friday, February 1, 2013.
This is a terrific event for a cause that helps equestrian riders of every discipline from Dressage rider to jockeys, barrel racers to Eventers. We
hope all of you will be able to attend and give generously.  The Reining Show will be spectacular.

PBCMP is having their 1st show of the season on Saturday, February 2, 2013 and will be 'sharing' space for some time on Saturday.  PLEASE
BE PATIENT WITH US.  We're not sure when Show Office will be turned over to us for our registrations but we'll get it done!  We needed to share
some stalls that are normally reserved by Posse riders and I'm sure there'll be some noise and confusion with tearing show down.  PLEASE BE
PATIENT.  We're also sharing the facility with upcoming Dressage shows that need the additional chain link fencing around both barns.  In addition,
we have a 'guest' horse staying over from the Dressage Masters and he's doubly fenced and using 4 stalls in Barn A.

I know we'll get through this together but wanted you to be aware and hope you'll understand, and be patient!!

Enjoy your evening at the Equestrian Aid Foundation then come ride with us over the weekend.

See you at the Shows!!

and fax to 561.249-0945 or just have ready when you get to show office.

Looking forward to this weekend!!

62  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / PBCMP HUNTER & PLEASURE SHOWS 2/3/13 on: January 28, 2013, 10:38:06 PM
Hell-o everyone!!!  It's that time of year and we're open for business again!

PBCMP's new Super Show season opens this Saturday, February 2, 2013 with our Dressage at 8:30 a.m.
and our Jumpers at their ** NEW TIME**  4:30 PM -  Jumper Schooling now at 4:00 PM.  Spread the word.

Hunter & Pleasure Shows are Sunday, February 3, 2013 - Hunter ring starts at 8 am and Pleasure ring 9 am

Move-in, schooling and pre-registration (which we HIGHLY recommend with it being 1st show) from 11-4pm
on Saturday with Show Office closing promptly at 4 pm - Jumper entries will still be taken at show ring.
New Show Office forms, class cards and 2013 membership on our web site, www.pbcposse.com.

Fax registrations to 561.249.0945.  Stall reservations 561.543-0097.  Questions 561.670.4917 - Alyce.

There will be a show in the Covered Arena Friday evening and may cause us to move the Show Office to
either the County office in back of barns (we were there last year) or possibly a leftover tent from Dressage
by the C/A.  Stay tuned.  There will also be confusion with their tearing down the show and packing up.
I apologize but it's beyond our control - County does the booking.

We are also 'fenced in'.  As many of you have experienced before, fencing encircles the barns for the Dressage
shows.  We'll have pieces moved to accomodate move in and horses to get in and out.  There will be an area
in the front of Barn A more heavily fenced due to a Dressage Masters horse staying with us for another few
days.

We've also moved the move-in time earlier and we have a Dressage show going on as you're unloading and going
to school.  PLEASE be respectful of the show in progress.

From all the phone calls I've received over break - this should be a WOW season!!

See you at the Show!!

65  Wellington/Equestrian News / Wellington/Equestrian News / PBCMP DRESSAGE SCHOOLING SHOW on: January 24, 2013, 07:30:31 PM
Time to get entries in for the opening of the 2013 PBCMP Dressage Schooling shows.

The show is Saturday, February 2 with first ride time around 8:30 pm.  Our judge will be
Lisa Hyslop 'R'.

Entry forms are available at Red Barn, Tackeria and Grand Prix.  Form on our website,
www.pbcposse.com is correct with exception of dates and membership.  All info on our
web site is updated but new entry form on its way - we're under constuction!! Individual
membership is $25; Family $35.  Classes, other fees, etc. are the same.  New membership
forms are on the web site as well.  We only need your coggins for the first show.

You can mail entries to me:  Alyce Michelbrink, 13397 Marcella Blvd, Loxahatchee, FL
33470 or email info - allieoop48@aol.com.  Any questions, please call me, 561.670.4917.
Stall reservations - 561.543-0097.

Friday move-ins ONLY IF WE HAVE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF REQUESTS.  PLEASE
DO NOT SHOW UP WITHOUT CHECKING FIRST. County requires both Night Watch and
Security and we need advanced notice and enough riders to warrant the expense. Friday
schooling is available from Noon to 4 pm - we use the honor system and hope you'll pay
for schooling on your entry as we're not at the showgrounds all day Friday.

This show has something for everyone!!  Great relaxed environment for the new horse, new
rider or both!!  Great place to take your test to another level before trying out at a rated
show.  And for more advanced riders, who may be competing at Jim Brandon at another
time in the year, an opportunity to get all the 'bugs' out of your ride and the jitters out of
your horse and familiarize yourself with these surroundings.  We offer a 'Ride A Test' type
format with time with the judge after each ride and the opportunity to ride your test
again if space is available.

Look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year - tell a friend!!

Our condolences to Linda Zang who has started our season for the past 2 years but
due to the loss of her husband, changed her plans for the season.  We wish her the best
and hope to see her in 2014!!

See you at the Show!!
